 Assemblyman Jim Cooper honored Lake Canyon Principal Judi Hayes for her service to students and community at large on March 23 at the State Capitol. Schauer commented on Hayes’ honor.

    “Judi has made many leadership contributions as Lake Canyon has implemented personalized learning efforts through expanded learning opportunities, service learning and civic education efforts and community partnerships,” Schauer said. “I am so pleased she was recognized as a woman leader during Women’s History Month as principal in the Galt Joint Union Elementary School District.

  Under Hayes’ leadership, Lake Canyon has received various awards and recognitions, including America’s Healthiest Schools Award in 2014, 2015, 2017; CA Distinguished Civic Learning Award in 2015; and the CA Green Ribbon Recognition in 2017. Hayes has also fostered an ongoing partnership with Sacramento Metro Arts Commission; held an annual color run, which raises thousands of dollars that is donated to nonprofits; was an early implementer of the CA Next Generation Science Standards and implemented a “House System”, which supports the well-being and inclusion of all learners.

Mrs. Bartkowski was honored on March 9th at the California State Capitol by Assemblyman Jim Cooper for her work in supporting honeybees and creating awareness regarding the decline in the honeybee population. Mrs. Bartkowski was honored at a luncheon for outstanding women in California as part of the annual Women’s History Month Luncheon at the Capitol.

Lake Canyon Elementary Earns Bronze Award

For the second year, the Alliance for a Healthier Generation recognizes Lake Canyon Elementary School with a Bronze Award for their School Wellness Plan.

The school continues to transform its campus into a healthy place for both students and staff.

California Distinguished Civic Learning Award Presented to Lake Canyon Elementary

June 5, 2015:  As part of the opening ceremonies for the 3rd Annual Color Me Run, Chief Justice Ronald Robie presented the California Distinguished Civic Learning Award to Lake Canyon Elementary School staff and learners for project-based service learning efforts.
